Moody Named First Team All-Louisiana

BATON ROUGE - Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns senior Hunter Moody's list of awards for the 2008 season concluded when he was named to the All-Louisiana Baseball First Team as chosen by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
Earlier this month, the Clinton, La. native was named to the ABCA/Rawlings South Central All-Region First Team, marking the second career ABCA South Central All-Region honor for the southpaw. Moody, a draft pick of the Toronto Blue Jays in this year's MLB Draft, finish his stellar four-year career as a first team All-Sun Belt selection thanks to a 9-2 record with a 3.26 ERA. He finished as the school's winningest pitcher with a 31-7 all-time record, compiling an impressive .816 winning percentage. Moody also leaves as one of only four pitchers in Sun Belt Conference history to win 30 games and finishes his illustrious career ranked in the top five of four major pitching categories - wins, strikeouts, innings pitched and games started.

LAFAYETTE- Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns named Charlie Mahfouz the new head track coach. His hiring is pending approval by the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.
Mahfouz will begin his new post effective July 1, 2008.

LAFAYETTE- Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns named Theo Sliman the new head men's golf coach. His hiring is pending approval by the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.
Sliman replaces Bob Bass, who retired after 18 seasons as head coach.

BATON ROUGE, La.-Louisiana's Piotrek Banas (Bielsko-Biala, Poland) was named First Team All-Louisiana by the Louisiana Sports Writer's Association.
Banas finished the regular season ranked No. 99 in the nation in singles. He ended the 2008 season with a singles record of 7-3, while going 4-7 in doubles. Four of the seven wins Banas earned in singles came at No. 1 position.

BATON ROUGE, La.-Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns softball team took a road trip to the state capitol in Baton Rouge and was honored by both the state Senate and House of Representatives for its performance during the 2008 season.
UL pulled up to the capitol building and were welcomed by Rep. Rickey Hardy. The Cajuns were whisked into the House of Representatives where they were presented with a resolution to "commend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette softball team for an outstanding performance in the 2008 Women's College World Series and to congratulate its coaches and players on a sensational 2007-2008 season."

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - One of the Toronto Blue Jays' newest acquisitions continues to earn accolades following his senior season. Departed Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns left-handed pitcher Hunter Moody (Clinton, La.) was named to the ABCA/Rawlings South Central All-Region First Team Wednesday, marking the second career ABCA South Central All-Region honor for the southpaw. He also earned first team accolades following his Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year campaign of 2006.
Softball Finishes Season Ranked Sixth

LAFAYETTE-Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns softball team entered the postseason ranked 16th in the top 25, but after their fifth place finish at the Women's College World Series, UL finished the year ranked sixth according to both the USA Today/NFCA and the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Polls.
